The top goal of KB Plumbing’s family-owned-and-operated business is to provide quality customer service through traditional values. As part of our plumbing expertise, KB Plumbing trains each plumbing contractor on our team to provide top-notch customer care, expert guidance, quality work and more. Darren Sommerer joined the KB team in 2018 and helps with the day-to-day functions as a plumber. Recently, Darren passed his journeyman plumber’s exam and is officially a licensed journeyman plumber.

“It’s nice to work for a company that is a family-owned business,” says Darren. As a fun, family dynamic, Darren is also Kari’s cousin and has known Ben for 18 years and counting!

As a longtime family member and friend, KB Plumbing helps others in their time of need as if it’s your own family or loved one. Darren notes, “When Ben asked me to work with him, we would go to people’s houses that had leaks and backed up sewers and people were frustrated and looking for help. And then you fix their plumbing issues, and they are so appreciative that it makes you feel good. It is nice to help people in need.”

When giving expert advice, there is a frequent friendly reminder of WHAT NOT TO DO. Darren’s go-to plumbing tip informs others to not pour grease down the kitchen sink. When cooled, wipe the pan with a paper towel and dispose of the mess in the garbage can.

Outside of work, Darren coaches baseball, watches his son’s sports events, and loves to spend time with his family, too.

Darren is a family man and a big baseball guy. His favorite sport to watch is baseball and bleeds black and gold. He mentions, “I root for all Pittsburgh sports teams, yes even the Pirates.”
